Job Description:

Ferguson is seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong experience working with stakeholders defining business requirements and processes to join our Data Services & Integrations team in our Newport News, VA Tech Center location.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Transform Stakeholder Information to Technical Documentation ready for Developer implementation

  • Work closely with Data Architects and Modelers

  • Construct information architecture for various implementations

  • Identify, understand and model the information flow within the business domains

  • Develop user models of information flows and activity diagram

  • Perform detailed analysis of information that is discoverable for applications

  • Work with customers to deliver best practices of content management

  • Identify cross relationship between structured and unstructured data elements

  • Recognize patterns for developing new enterprise repositories and work closely with Enterprise Architects

PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Related or Business related field is typically required to perform at expectation

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Business Analysis can be substituted for education

  • Ferguson business and software domain knowledge preferred but not required

TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:

  • Experience in data solutions development, including working in a Service Orientated Architecture environment.

  • Experience in establishing classifications schemes

  • Experience/understanding RESTful web services and Service Repositories preferred.

  • Experience with metadata and content management

  • Understanding of information life-cycle and ability to make recommendations to support best practices

  • Working knowledge of Business Process Modeling

  • Knowledge of user interface standards and practices

  • Extensive SQL query writing experience

  • Able to work in an ambiguous environment with complex undocumented business logic and data flow

  • Knowledge of security protocols and demonstrate ability to manage the security of data within Ferguson governance best practices
